Tyler Southern's Story
Tyler Southern
CPL USMC (Ret.) / Co-founder
Corporal Tyler Southern served with the United States Marine Corps,
Weapons Company, 81s Platoon, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marines. On May 5,
2010, during his second deployment to Musa Qala in the Naw Zad District
of Afghanistan, Tyler survived a catastrophic IED blast that cost him
both legs above the knees, his right arm above the elbow, and severely
damaged his left arm and hand. Despite these life-altering injuries,
Tyler became the first American triple amputee to survive combat
injuries in Afghanistan. After being airlifted from the battlefield, he
endured a long recovery at Bethesda Naval Medical Center, spending
nearly two weeks in a coma before beginning a challenging, but
remarkable, journey of rehabilitation.
Fueled by a spirit that refused to be broken, Tyler leaned heavily on his
family, including his two brothers serving on active duty, as he rebuilt
his life. In 2011, he was gifted a specially adapted home in St. Augustine,
Florida by Homes for Our Troops, providing him independence and stability.
Tyler found strength not just in recovery, but in his passions; film, friends,
and family. Turning his pain into purpose, he became a national spokesperson
for wounded veterans, sharing his story to inspire resilience and hope among
those facing similar battles.
Today, Tyler is a symbol of perseverance, community, and the enduring will
to overcome. He continues to fight not just for himself, but for others navigating
life after trauma. As a co-owner of “We Are SFH,” he brings his story of
survival, recovery, and relentless determination to a mission that reminds
the world: no matter the battle, they are “Still Fucking Here.”

Lance Price's Story
Lance Price
USN Ret. (Doc) / Co-founder
Lance served honorably in the United States Navy from 2000 to 2018,
achieving the rank of Hospital Corpsman First Class (HM1 FMF).
Throughout his career, he completed multiple deployments in support of
Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF),
operating in Al Anbar Province, Central Baghdad, and North Diyala in
Iraq, and the Nawa Districts of Helmand Province, Afghanistan. His
distinguished service earned him numerous awards, including four Navy
Achievement Medals, two Combat Action Ribbons, and campaign medals for
the Global War on Terrorism. He held critical roles as a Senior Line
Corpsman and Medical Advisor for special warfare units, and supported
front-line Marines in some of the most challenging environments.
Despite his professional success, Lance's career was marked by personal battles
with PTSD and TBI, resulting from multiple combat incidents. After officially
being diagnosed, he faced the hard reality of managing invisible wounds while
continuing to serve and lead. Following his retirement in 2018, Lance navigated
through some of his darkest moments, finding purpose and recovery through
alternative therapies like medical cannabis and the Stellate Ganglion Block
(SGB) treatment, made possible by nonprofit organizations dedicated to veterans'
healing.
Today, Lance channels his journey into advocacy and entrepreneurship. He
served as the Florida Chapter lead for “For the Love of a Veteran” and is
a proud co-owner of “We Are SFH,” a clothing and apparel brand founded on
resilience and survival. “Still Fucking Here” is not just a slogan for Lance;
it represents the lived experiences of overcoming trauma, addiction, and
adversity—a testament to the enduring spirit that carried him through war,
recovery, and into his new mission of helping others.
